Producer Information
Domaine Hudelot-Nollat is a Burgundy producer of high-quality Pinot Noir from prestigious sites in the Cte de Nuits. The domaine was founded in Vougeot by Alain Hudelot in 1962, although the Hudelot family can trace its history in Burgundy back to before the French Revolution. Hudelot married Odile Nollat in the 1970s, which increased the domaine’s holdings the Nollat family has its own significant history in Burgundy. In 2008, Alain retired and his grandson, Charles van Canneyt, took over running the estate alongside cellarmaster Vincent Munier. The domaine has roughly 10 hectares (24 acres) of vineyards with plots in four villages (Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romane and Nuits-Saint-Georges) and in 15 different designated sites. The highest tier of Pinot Noir comes from the grand cru vineyards Richbourg, Romane-Saint-Vivant and Clos de Vougeot. Hudelot-Nollatt has a reputation for high vine ages, which it maintains through methodical replanting. The average age is more than 50 years, with several vineyard plantings dating back to 1920, including parcels in Romane-Saint-Vivant. New oak use in the cellar is regulated to roughly 20 percent for the village wines, going up to 50 percent (and sometimes more) for the grand cru wines. The domaine makes a Bourgogne Aligot along with its numerous premier cru and villages-level Pinot Noir.
