Size: 750ml

ABV: 13.1%

Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon

Medium deep golden colour. Discreet nose with some evolution, apricot, fresh pineapple, discreet wood and a hint of vanilla. Sweet and unctuous notes of apricot, almost dried fruit, perhaps more Passerillage than Botrytis. Sweet but with medium weight for the style. Dense and viscous finish, quite long but could still develop more nuance and complexity.

      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Chteau de Malle has a pleasing, harmonious, botrytis-rich bouquet with fine delineation: honeysuckle, minerals and orange-blossom gently floating from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with tensile citrus fruit that marries beautifully with the clear honey, mandarin and citrus notes. There is a compelling build to this wine in the mouth.
      • Wine Spectator: Green apple, toffee and lemon tart aromas open to a full body. Very sweet, with caramel, cooked apple and light vanilla flavors. Long and flavorful. Dense and sweet.

        Producer Information

The family of the Counts of Bournazel has been present in the Bordeaux region since the beginning of the 17th century, when Jacques de Malle, their direct ancestor, had the Chteau de Malle built. Enamelled with illustrious figures such as Jacques de Malle, President of the Parliament of Bordeaux; or Pierre de Malle, advisor to Louis XIV, keeper of the seals of the Court of Guyenne and parliamentarian in Bordeaux; or even Henri de Bournazel known as the Red Horseman, hero of the war of pacification of Morocco. The history of this family is closely linked to that of the Chteau de Malle. In this delightful property, rigorous know-how, a passion for viticulture and the culture of beauty and goodness are passed down from generation to generation. After the death of the Count of Bournazel in 1985, it was his wife the Countess of Bournazel who took over the estate with elegance, assisted a few years later by her children: Paul-Henry, Antoine and Charles, thus perpetuating the family tradition. Paul-Henry moved to Malle with his family in 1996 and gradually took over management of the operation. In 1999 the family’s vineyards expanded with the acquisition of Chteau Pessan, a pretty 12 hectare entity in the gravel, in the heart of the village of Portets.
