Producer Information
Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is a wine producer based in the town of Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cte de Beaune subregion. The winery produces a range of wines from local and neighboring appellations. The Bouzereau family have been making wine in this region for seven generations, but it wasn’t until 1971 that the domaine was officially established. Today, it comprises 11 hectares (27 acres) of vineyard divided between the appellations of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune. Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau inherited the domaine from his father Michel in 1999. Since then, he has implemented a series of changes to the winemaking processes previously instigated by his father, including a reduction in battonage, or lees stirring. The estate portfolio centers predominantly on Chardonnay, with a smaller selection of Pinot Noir labels. The top wines are a collection of six white premier crus made from parcels in Genevrires, Blagny, Perrires and Charmes in Meursault, and Le Cailleret and Champ Gain in Puligny-Montrachet. Other top holdings include the red premiers crus of Les Aussy in Volnay and Les Vignes Franches in Beaune. The domaine also produces village-level wines from small plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Meursault and Pommard, in addition to Bourgogne Aligot, Blanc and Rouge.
