Producer Information

Just as the carp is part of the Moselle, it is also part of our coat of arms. This remarkable tradition began as early as 1664 with fishermen who, in addition to catching Karp which means carp in Moselle-Franconian also practiced viticulture. Around 1900, the Schreiber family joined through marriage, meaning that the carp no longer had to swim alone, at least in name… Today, Jobst-Julius Karp is the 13th generation to run the traditional winery. After studying in Geisenheim, the qualified engineer for viticulture and oenology first traveled the proverbial wine world from California to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa to Spain in order to gain experience beyond the glass at home.
