Description
White Wine: 2019 | Domaine Morey-Coffinet | Chassagne-Montrachet Les Houillieres
Pale lemon, also a toasty nose but this time balanced by a greater concentration of fruit. Some lime notes alongside quite a thickly textured fruit, more white than yellow but ripe enough.

Producer Information
Domaine Morey-Coffinet is a wine producer based in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, in Burgundy’s Cte de Beaune subregion, making a range of wines from local and neighboring vineyards, predominantly from the local mainstay: Chardonnay. The domaine was established in 1978 following the marriage of Fabienne Coffinet and Michel Morey both from major Burgundy wine-producing dynasties (Pillot and Fernand Coffinet on Fabienne’s side with Marc Morey the father of Michel). Winemaking is currently overseen by son Thibault Morey. The estate spans a total of 8.5 hectares (22 acres), the vast majority of which lies within the commune of Chassagne a small, 0.2-hectare (half an acre) plot in Puligny-Montrachet’s Premier Cru Les Pucelles is the only major exception. Vineyard plots in the stable include 0.1 hectares (a quarter-acre) in the Btard-Montrachet Grand Cru as well as more sizeable holdings in the premiers crus En Cailleret, La Romane, En Remilly and the Morgeot Fairendes. Morey-Coffinet also have small plots in Dent de Chien and Blanchot Dessus. All are planted to Chardonnay. However the estate also boasts a number of red Chassagne parcelles, growing Pinot Noir in the Clos St-Jean and Morgeot premier cru vineyards as well as 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres) in Les Chaumes. The vineyards and wines are all certified organic. The estate also produces wines under the Maison Morey-Coffinet ngoce label. Wines for this range are sourced from across the wider region, including Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Saint-Aubin, Meursault and even Corton-Charlemagne.
