Description

The nose and palate are both dominated by red fruits – redcurrants, raspberries, ripe plums – as would be expected of a young Merlot dominated wine and there’s an added bonus of blackcurrants.Both Moya and Gaby pick their grapes as late as possible to ensure full maturity. This wine has been aged in oak – split 50% in new barrels and 50% in 1 to 2 year old barrels – there are only hints of oak ageing on the palate. Whilst old-style Moya which I loved was a very young fruit-forward wine, this vintage tastes more evolved as if it has more than 5 years on the clock. The tannins are soft and integrated. This is a very elegant wine.
